Nature Trails
The highest point in northeast Illinois is one mile due west of the property in the High Point McHenry County Conservation District (MCCD). The trail is accessible on Reese Rd.
There are MCCD parks and trails throughout the county, and many are within a few minutes of the house.

Golf
The Oak Grove Golf Course is just 2 minutes away!
In fact, our parcel shares property corners with the course (but it is far enough away from the house that it’s inconspicuous).

Beaches and Boats
Beaches and boat access are close by on Geneva Lake in the the towns of Fontana, Williams Bay, and Lake Geneva.
Boat clubs are popular on Geneva Lake, because members can enjoy the lake without owning a boat! You can choose from a variety of boats to sail, without towing, launching, or even clean up!
Launches and beaches can also be found at many other nearby lakes, including Delavan Lake, Lake Como, and the Chain-of-Lakes State Park. And, the Illinois Beach State Park and North Point Marina on Lake Michigan is only a little more than an hour away.

Dining
There are many nearby choices for upscale casual and fine dining within 30 minutes’ drive all around Geneva Lake and in Woodstock and Richmond, IL.

Fast Food
There are summer hot dog and frozen custard stands in nearby Hebron, Walworth, and Harvard, and that’s always a fun time.
A short drive to Harvard or Woodstock offers a wide choice of fast food options.

Groceries
An upscale grocer is in nearby Walworth, a green grocer is a 10 minutes further in Williams Bay, and a wonderful Italian butcher shop is just a few minutes beyond in Delevan.
Walmart and ethnic grocers can be found in Harvard, Woodstock and Lake Geneva.

Shopping
The nearest boutique shopping is in Lake Geneva and on the historic Woodstock Square.
There are big box stores in all of the larger towns in the area.

Metra
There are Metra Stations on the NW line to downtown Chicago in Harvard ($2.00/day parking) or Woodstock (free parking).
The Metra line to O’Hare can be accessed at the station in Antioch.

The Sky
Living here on top of the hill, we have found that the sky has a bigger impact than it does in more urban environments. It’s truly amazing, although being city kids, it took us a little bit to get used to.
